Client Overview:
A utility company currently has a great opportunity for an awesome Senior Payroll Administrator. You will be responsible for processing the payroll for 3 different companies on multiple systems. As a hands on Administrator you will help process train, coach and mentor the team and lend your expertise as required and when needed.



Job Overview:




Process and oversee weekly union payroll for all salaried, hourly employees and union employees.
Train all staff on proper procedures and compliance
Be a leader and mentor for the team
Ensure all wage changes are made accurately and in time for effected pay periods.
Review & reconcile timesheets, work hours and weekly payroll for completeness and accuracy.
Enter time sheets into JD Edwards while ensuring hours are categorized and allocated to correct cost centers.
Ensure accurate processing of sick pay and vacation payouts.
Review and reconcile weekly payroll for accuracy and completeness.
Process payroll on a timely basis.
Create required internal management reports from the payroll system.
Respond to employee and government agency inquires in regards to payroll.
Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, benefits and deductions.
Create, maintain and update employee profiles as information is received.
Benefits & Deductions

Verify accurate benefit enrollments and de-enrollments made by HR, override JD Edwards as necessary.
Reconcile all benefits and deductions on a weekly and monthly basis.
Create Cheque Requisitions to ensure that all payroll related invoices are paid on-time.
Compile all necessary backup and generate reporting as required.

Stays current with payroll regulations, standards and work methods.
Complies with health and safety and other statutory regulations.
Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and payroll tax laws required.
Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required.
Clear written and verbal communications.
Organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
Adhere to all policies and follow established procedures.
Participate in required meetings providing input and recommendations.
Work well in a team environment.
Able to maintain confidential information.
Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processing procedures.
Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.

Excellent data entry skills.
Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Canadian Payroll Association Certificate an asset (PCP or CPM).
Experience with JDE payroll system, Eclipse. Avanti or Oracle an asset.
Computer literacy in MS Office (Advanced Excel an asset).
Minimum 10 years of unionized payroll an asset.
Wages negotiable depending on experience
