Client Overview:
Our client in the manufacturing industry currently has a great opportunity for Head an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join our Corporate Team. We’re looking for a highly motivated individual who is knowledgeable in payroll legislation and practices in multiple provinces, have experience in ADP Workforce Now, and ideally have experience working with collective agreements .

Job Overview:

Responsible for the processing of semi-monthly payroll which involves receiving, compiling and submitting payroll hours into ADP Payroll system for approximately 300 salaried and hourly employees (union & non-union locations across multiple provinces in Canada).
Address employee's pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information in a professional and timely manner.
Perform payroll analysis and chargeout rates on a timely basis.
Responsible for processing remittances and generating payroll reports.
Provide payroll/labour information support to Management, HR, and Corporate Service Manager.
Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors.
Ensure compliance with payroll legislations, company policies and collective agreement.
Prepare and distribute employee record of employment (ROE) and T4 forms within mandated timelines.
Establish new employee records in payroll system and maintain accurate, up-to-date payroll documentation for all employees.
Maintain current and complete knowledge of payroll legislation changes.
Monitor systems and methods, recommending and implementing necessary changes to improve efficiency of the payroll function.
Provide assistance to the Accounting Team during month end or other duties as required

A Certificate or Diploma with a concentration in Payroll/Accounting/Administration from a recognized educational institution.
Completion of the Canadian Payroll Association Certificate Program and membership in CPA preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of previous payroll administration experience, ideally within a multi-regional environment.
Experience working with collective agreements within a unionized environment an asset.
Experience with ADP

Skills & Attributes:

Good understanding of Canadian payroll legislations (multi-province)
Proven verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Proven ability to meet varied deadlines with a high attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Proven knowledge of best practices regarding compliance matters.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employee and management.
Proven willingness to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
Intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word.
