Client Overview:
A well-established company in real estate, is currently looking for Assistant Controller to join their tight knit Finance team.
The Assistant Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of the preparation and analysis of financial statements for facilities assigned by the Senior Finance Manager
• Responsible to assist in the training and development of staff involved in the finance area at the facilities
• Responsible for analyzing and completion of Balance Sheet schedules
• Responsible for the importing and exporting of data using a variety of formats
• Provide and incorporate best practices into month-end and year-end procedures
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
• Supports budget and forecasting activities
• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Technical accounting research on complex accounting topics
• Analyzing the funding received from various sources, including reconciliation between the expected funding and the actual revenue received
• Preparing year-end working papers for audits/reviews and assist with audit completion

Qualifications

• Designated CA, CGA, CMA
• Minimum of 7 years of full-cycle accounting experience
• Detailed oriented, organized, and a complex problem solver
• Technically strong – accounting knowledge and computer skills
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
