Client Overview:
a manufacturing company in Burnaby has a great opportunity for a Payroll Coordinator to join their tight knit accounting group. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll entries. This is a great opportunity to continue to build your payroll knowledge in a diverse, multi-province organization.


Job Overview:



Your RESPONSIBILITIES will include:
• Ensure all hourly, salary and commissioned employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner
• Prepare and process full cycle bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls (both union and non-union) by using payroll software and MS Excel for employees across Canada
• Prepare payroll journal entries, accruals and withholding tax remittances
• Reconcile payroll expenses to the general ledger payroll accounts to ensure payroll expenses are correctly allocated
• Calculate and prepare Termination payments and Records of Employment
• Perform annual payroll balancing at year end for T4 preparation
• Liaise with the HR Department to ensure all personnel records are accurate and up-to-date

Work Experience/Educational background required:
• Relevant post-secondary education in Accounting
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designated or enrolled
• 2-3 years’ experience in payroll processing
• Experience with MS Office, especially proficient in MS Excel
• Experience with payroll software (ie. HR and Payroll)
Additional skills or experience preferred:
• Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency
• Experience in a Union Environment
• Highly organized, detail oriented with ability to problem solve, show continuous improvements
