A successful transportation company in the lower mainland is seeking a motivated and talented Payroll Supervisor who will be able to perform payroll functions with an emphasis on ensuring all payments are processed in an accurate and timely manner and on improving the overall operational efficiency of the department. The payroll Manager will be reporting to the Controller and supervising one staff. You will be overseeing the payroll department which may include the preparation of bi weekly union and non union payroll.

Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
• Full cycle payroll for weekly and bi-weekly union payrolls, salary
• Mentors and oversees the Payroll Administrator
• Develops and implements programs and procedures; recommending changes to improve payroll functions.
• Year end Reconciliation.T4 preparation, etc.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Completion of Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation preferred.
• Five years of payroll supervisory experience in complex, high volume unionized environment. Preference given to candidates with experience in basic accounting procedures.
• The ability to interpret Collective Agreements, with the ability to apply to payroll processes and procedures.
• Familiar with multi-provincial payroll laws.
• Effective time management skills Strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication skills with a high level of confidentiality comprehension.
• Knowledge of the Sage 300 payroll system with the ability to produce, export and import payroll related information for report and year end purposes.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
• General knowledge and interpretation of BC and Ontario Employment Standards and Labour Laws.
• attention to detail in preparing, recording and auditing of payroll and related transactions.
