A leading Transportation management company in BC is looking for a talented Financial Controller who will work closely with ownership and senior management team to support the successful execution of corporate strategy and project management. As a key member of the management team, the Controller will have the opportunity to have influence on daily operations.

The Controller will be reporting to the President with a dotted line to the CEO and GM of the company and this position has the potential to grow into a CFO position.  As the controller, you will be interacting  with customers, vendors, financial institutions, and other related external parties,


· responsible for managing the team responsible for providing financial and technical expertise to continuously improve financial processes to ensure the company keeps up with best industry practices.

· accountable for the preparation and provision of financial analysis on a monthly and as-needed basis.

– Prepare revenue, expense, and capital budgets, monitoring budget targets.

– Advice to Managers to achieve those targets.

– Prepare and monitor variance analysis and make recommendations.

– Prepare current year, annual, and multi-year financial forecasts.

– Prepare cash-flow forecasts.

– Own the QuickBooks financial process and provide key support for financial users.

– Build financial and other reports within the organization’s system.

– Developing the performance measurement system and monitoring on a periodic basis to determine results.

– Ensure the performance measurement system correlates to the strategic plan.

– Manage Finance team and other office staff.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

· Professional Canadian Accounting Designation (CPA), or related experience required.

· Must possess broad experience as a senior-level policy formulator/adviser

. Experience in the Construction industry is a strong asset.

· Knowledge of strategic and business planning processes including budgeting.

· Knowledge of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.

· Knowledge of the construction industry and project management.

· Ability to develop and implement efficient financial systems.

· Ability to organize, present, and communicate information clearly and concisely.

· Ability to develop relationships with other business units to work collectively.

· Ability to work independently, take ownership, and work within a flexible team environment.

· Ability to provide reliable and accurate information to the organization.

· Highly effective critical thinking skills

· Knowledge of Payroll and Benefits.

· Proven ability to multi-task & ability to prioritize tasks.

· Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and QuickBooks online.

· Required to work extended hours including occasional weekends.
